Game Trailer Analysis

One of the most captivating trailers for any video game has been the Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls trailer. Reaper of Souls is the expansion for the third installment of the Diablo franchise, and since it's being introduced to the audience after a lot of story has already happened, they try to recap that in the beginning with a small animated portion, which I really like. The style of it is actually really unique and reflects some of the cinematics throughout the game (lesser ones that try to transition the player between the acts of the game- similar to an intermission of sorts).

What I find most fascinating about this trailer, aside from the gorgeous rendering, is the use of such little dialogue. Already knowing the story behind this, not much has to be explained to me, but someone watching it from the outside can clearly pick up on the tension and bits of the plot. The music is also perfectly eerie- Blizzard always seems to have such wonderful pieces composed for every occasion.

I could honestly gush on and on about how incredible it looks and scream out "ohh do you SEE THAT GAUNTLET?? LOOK AT HOW DETAILED!!!" but it just gets repetitive.

I will have to say though, the best part (for me), is when Malthael (the big dark dude, who is Tyrael's brother) turns and says "No one can stop death." Goosebumps. Every time.
